Celebs made up for their absence at the Golden Globes by turning out in droves at Tuesday's National Board of Review Awards.

Kudos recipients George Clooney, Michael Douglas and Denzel Washington were among those dining on lamb and ratatouille at the gala held at Cipriani's 42nd St.

Clooney, who received the actor nod for "Michael Clayton," presented Joel and Ethan Coen with the adapted screenplay hardware for "No Country for Old Men."

"This is gonna be the most fun for all of us tonight because these guys hate this," Clooney said. "They are the worst I have ever seen at (accepting awards), so enjoy yourselves, folks."

Once onstage, the Coen brothers shrugged, said "thanks" and then took their seats.

When presenting her "Juno" co-star Ellen Page with the prize for breakthrough performance by an actress, Jennifer Garner said, "The person getting this award, in the last month or so, has become the most powerful woman in Hollywood."

Garner's hubby, Ben Affleck, and his brother Casey took home kudos for directorial debut and supporting actor, respectively.
