Samuel Goldwyn picks up 'Pieces'

Based on the bestselling novel by Anne Michaels, "Pieces" is written and directed by Jeremy Podeswa.
Produced by Robert Lantos ("Eastern Promises"), "Pieces" revolves around a Polish writer haunted by his experiences as an orphaned child during WWII. The cast includes Stephen Dillane, Rade Sherbedgia and Rosamund Pike.
The film will have its domestic preem Feb. 2 at the Santa Barbara Film Festival.
Lantos' new distrib company, Maximum, is handling in Canada.
The deal was negotiated by Peter Goldwyn, VP of acquisitions for Samuel Goldywn, and John Sloss of Cinetic Media.
Podeswa helmed the minis "Into the West" for TNT and HBO's upcoming "The Pacific."
