Truly Indie nabs 'Backseat'

Film won Audience Award at '05 Austin fest

Truly Indie has acquired domestic distrib rights for "Backseat," the second feature in 21 years from "Cold Feet" helmer Bruce van Dusen. The movie, written and co-produced by Josh Alexander, follows two friends on a road trip from Gotham to Montreal and stars Alexander, Rob Bogue, Will Janowitz of "The Sopranos," and Aubrey Dollar.

The film won the Audience Award at the 2005 Austin Film Fest and will premiere in New York on March 28, with additional cities to follow. "Backseat" is the second Truly Indie release skedded for March, with Terry Sanders' military medic doc "Fighting for Life" also on the slate.
