Fashion designer Bill Belew dies
Created iconic jumpsuits worn by Elvis
Presley wore the extravagant designs, which became forever linked with his image, from 1968 until his death in 1977.
Born in Crocet, Vir., Belew was a graduate of the Parsons School of Design in New York.
He also created costumes for stage, screen and television stars spanning several generations including Josephine Baker, Ella Fitzgerald, Brooke Shields and Gloria Estefan.
His designs also were also used for ballet performances by the New York City Ballet and the San Francisco Ballet.
Bill is survived by his longtime companion Paul Dafelmair and several nieces and nephews.
