PARIS — Canal Plus has inked a multi-year agreement with Gaumont to bring movies from the leading French production company’s library to its on-line VOD service, CanalPlay.
The pact will allow access to Gaumont’s recent movies, as well as eventually to many of its more than 900 library titles.
From late January, all 2007 releases from the French studio, including “Have Mercy on us All,” “Planet Earth” and “Darling,” will be available on the portal.
Also to be included will be “MR73” from helmer Olivier Marchal, to be released in France on March 26, and “A Widow at Last” from Isabelle Mergault, which will bow on Gallic screens Jan. 16.
Canal Play’s VOD lineup now stands at more than 3,500 titles, including more than 2,000 feature films, plus popular TV series such as “Desperate Housewives,” the US version of “The Office,” and children’s programming from U.S. networks Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and Jetix.
