Disney books translate for India

Classic tales translated for masses

HONG KONG -- Classic stories such as "The Jungle Book," "Aladdin" and "The Lion King" will soon be available in books a range of Indian languages.

Disney Publishing Worldwide (India) has pacted with books group Popular Prakashan. Eight illustrated titles will be published in Hindi and Marathi immediately, with more to follow in Malayalam beginning March.

"The launch of this collection reinforces our commitment to localize our stories and connect with consumers in a way that is relevant to their everyday lives," a Disney spokesman said.

"We are excited to help promote family reading through these eight titles," Harsha Bhatkal, Prakashan spokesman said.
