“Darling,” a dark comedy about morals and manners in Stockholm, had its production funding nixed by the Swedish Film Institute and had to be financed independently.
“You the Living,” Roy Andersson’s miserabilist ode to the foibles of daily human existence, has four noms. Pic is Sweden’s entry for the Oscars.
Josef Fares’ “Leo,” a low budget drama about street violence, took three noms.
The kudos will be handed out in Stockholm on Jan. 21.
A new jury system is being introduced this year. While in the past, more than 30 reps of the Swedish film world picked the winners, this year a seven strong jury will decide the outcome.
The jury consists of actress Pernilla August, producer Katinka Farago, critic Nils-Petter Sundgren, helmer Jonas Akerlund, critic Maarit Koskinen, producer Vinca Wiedemann and TV producer Eva Schwartz, who presides.
