'Gladiators' gets second run

First three episodes will be repurposed

Hot off a strong launch, "American Gladiators" has landed a second run on NBC stations.

Peacock has given NBC's owned stations and the net's affils the rights to repurpose the first three episodes of "Gladiators" over three consecutive weekends, starting Jan. 19-20.

Idea came out of a recent NBC Affiliate Board meeting. The original syndicated version of "American Gladiators" ran on weekend afternoons in most of the country; move could invoke nostalgia among the show's original fans, while bringing in more auds to the reality competish.

Said NBC-U co-chair Ben Silverman, "This unique partnership with our owned and affiliated stations gives us a great post-premiere window to increase" sampling for the series.

Networks rarely give their stations second runs of primetime shows, although it's not unprecedented; UPN stations were given a weekend window to repeat "Star Trek: Voyager."
