Corus, MTV extend broadcast deal

Broadcaster keeps rights to Nick shows

Canuck broadcaster Corus Entertainment and MTV Networks Intl. have extended their multiyear broadcast output deal to give Corus all digital rights, including broadband, mobile and video-on-demand, to Nickelodeon shows in Canada.

Corus, which owns and operates the Canadian kid-focused pay TV channels Treehouse and YTV, already has the local broadcast rights to most Nickelodeon shows, including "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Dora the Explorer."

The deal will also allow Corus to rep Nickelodeon's kids and family websites in Canada, including nick.com, for advertising sales.
