Since last August, Cianciotta had worked in marketing for the new Canadian sales company Maximum Films International and local distributor Maximum Films Distribution.
She worked for more than 15 years in film marketing, beginning her career in 1992 essentially with the same team as at Maximum at Alliance Releasing, the Canadian distribution division of Alliance Communications. She worked at both Alliance and at Maximum with her father and mentor, Tony Cianciotta.
After working in publicity and promotion in Alliance Releasing, she served as director of marketing at Alliance International from 1994 to 1998 before relocating to Los Angeles to serve in the same role at the company, then called Alliance Atlantis Motion Picture Distribution. She was promoted to VP in 2000.
While at Alliance Atlantis, she worked on films by filmmakers including Atom Egoyan, David Cronenberg and Denys Arcand, Michael Moore and Istvan Szabo.
Before relocating to Toronto in 2006, she served as a producer at Hammer Creative Advertising in Los Angeles.
She started her career as a freelance journalist in 1989, after graduating Ryerson Polytechnic in Toronto.
She is survived by her father and a brother.
