Artists pay tribute to Aretha Franklin

Music greats sign on for MusiCares gala

Anthony Hamilton, the Blues Brothers (Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi), Faith Hill, Fantasia, Ledisi, John Legend and a crew of gospel and jazz greats will perform tributes to Aretha Franklin at this year's MusiCares gala.

The Recording Academy's MusiCares Person of the Year gala will be held Feb. 8 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, two days before the Grammy Awards.

Other performers include Patti Austin, Shirley Caesar, Herbie Hancock, Roy Hargrove, Lil Mama, Jamia Simone Nash, Robin Thicke and Bebe & CeCe Winans. Bill Cosby and Blair Underwood will also be on hand. Franklin is expected to perform as well.

Benefit begins with a silent auction followed by a live auction. Among the items: A pink Cadillac inspired by Franklin's "Freeway of Love"; a private painting lesson with Tony Bennett and portrait painter Everett Raymond Kinstler; the guitar Elvis Presley used in his last show at the Las Vegas Hilton; a Bill Clinton-signed saxophone; and "Stairway to Heaven" sheet music autographed by Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones.

MusiCares provides assistance for music industry people in times of financial, medical or personal need.
