CBS Sports spots CSTV

Digital network joins Moonves' empire

The CBS-owned College Sports Television Network will now stand shoulder to shoulder with the pros.

The digitally distributed net, which acted as an independent division, will now come under the CBS Sports umbrella. Reorganization will be overseen by sports and news topper Sean McManus, while Tony Petitti, exec VP and exec producer of CBS Sports, will be in charge of day-to-day operations.

CSTV founder and president Brian Bedol will act as a consultant after the transition and report to network chief Leslie Moonves. CSTV has many distribution platforms, including a website and the ownership of 215 official athletic sites.

"We are confident that CSTV is now ready to become a part of the CBS Sports division," said Moonves.

Signature events from CBS Sports, which acquired CSTV in November 2005, include the Masters golf tournament, NCAA men's basketball tournament and NFL games featuring the AFC conference.
