'Christmas' present for Finnish film

Local feature takes in $2.6 million

STOCKHOLM -- Family film "Christmas Story" was the most successful locally made film in Finland in 2007.

Released Nov. 16, pic has pulled in 242,800 admissions for a $2.6 million take.

The $3.7 million production -- the story of how Santa Claus got his job --was helmed and produced by first-timer Juha Wuolijoki for Snapper Films.

Snapper Films and distrib Sandrew Metronome have already decided to re-release the film for Christmas 2008.

Sales agent Delphis Films plans to shop "Christmas Story" at the European Film Market at the Berlin Film Festival in February.
