Producer signs deal for content

BUENOS AIRES -- Argentinean producer Ideas del Sur has signed a five-year deal with Televisa to supply the Mexican media conglomerate with kiddie and teen fiction and entertainment formats.

Ideas del Sur will supply up to two telenovelas and an undisclosed quantity of entertainment formats per year under the agreement, which will take effect in 2008. Televisa will handle international distribution and sales of the programs and work with Ideas del Sur on the development of businesses related to the programs like albums, DVDs, magazines, legit productions and merchandising.

Run by host-impresario Marcelo Tinelli, Ideas del Sur is one of the biggest producers in Argentina, with hits including venerable variety show "ShowMatch," teen telenovela "Patito Feo" (Ugly Duckling) and "Los Roldan" (The Roldans), remade for markets in Mexico and Russia. It is backed by Argentine media conglom Grupo Clarin, for whose Artear-Canal 13 network it supplies content.
