Gothenburg festival big on brothers

'Ping Pong King' to open event

STOCKHOLM -- "The Ping Pong King," helmed by debuting feature director Jens Jonsson, will open the Gothenburg Film Festival on Jan. 25. The film, which will world preem in the international competition at Sundance, will also take part in the Nordic competition in Gothenburg.

Fest will close Feb. 4 with Miko Lazic's "Iskariot."

"The Ping Pong King" centers around the titular table tennis king and his charming brother. It is produced by Bob Film Sweden and co-produced by Filmpool Nord, Nordisk Film A/S and Sveriges Television (SVT).

"Iskariot" is also a story of two brothers, one a criminal, the other a successful surgeon. It's produced by Ironwood Films and distributed by Scanbox Entertainment Sweden.
