Berlinale lines up youth schedule

Generation 14 films to screen in new venue

The Berlinale's Generation youth section has selected its first seven titles in the 14 Plus competition and eight for the K Plus competish.

It's also added a shorts competition for the first time.

Generation 14 Plus pics will preem in a new venue, the Babylon Mitte, a 1920s-style theater that has been added to the other venues, the Zoo Palast, Cinemaxx, Cubix and Colosseum.

The 14 Plus films are "32A," by Marian Quinn, Ireland/Germany; "Ciao Bella," by Mani Maserrat-Agah, Sweden; "Cidade dos Homens," by Paulo Morelli, Brazil; "Fighter," by Natasha Arthy, Denmark; "Munyurangabo," by Lee Isaac Chung, U.S.; "September," by Peter Carstairs, Australia; and "The Black Balloon," by Elissa Down, U.K.

The K Plus films are "Buddha Collapsed Out of Shame," by Hana Makhmalbaf, Iran/France; "Chop Shop," by Ramin Bahrani, U.S.; "A Tale of Two Mozzies," by Jannik Hastrup and Flemming Quist Moller, Denmark; "Flower in the Pocket," by Liew Seng Tat, Malaysia; "Hey Hey It's Esther Blueburger," by Cathy Randall, Australia; "Mutum," by Sandra Kogut, Brazil; "Lives of Titanic the Cat," by Grethe Boe, Norway; and "Where Is Winky's Horse?," by Mischa Kamp, Netherlands.
