Philippe Cardon

Warner Home Video

TITLE: President, international

LEADERSHIP: The 16-year Warner veteran -- who was appointed to his current Burbank-based post last year -- heads a division that controls about 12% of the foreign DVD market, with the Dec. 11 release of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix" expected to be the unit's top-selling title of 2007.

Warner has operations in 89 international territories, with a large global distribution infrastructure and the biggest film library of any studio.

Under Cardon's watch, the company is leading the charge into piracy-ravaged China, establishing distribution through 2,500 traditional retail channels as well as another 20,000 smaller sellers -- Warner also handles disc distribution for Par, U and DreamWorks in the territory.

The Nordic area, meanwhile, is booming for the company, with the U.K. and Australia showing significant growth as well.

POV: Cardon's team recently partnered with Microsoft for an online promotion campaign in the U.K. for "Harry Potter." "We're always looking for new, innovative ways to market our products to a mass consumer audience," he says. "One strategy we've been aggressively pursuing is utilizing the digital space to promote our DVDs."
