'Grain' awarded Prix Louis-Delluc

'Lilies,' 'Forgiven' tie for first feature prize

"The Secret of the Grain," scripter-helmer Abdellatif Kechiche's tale of North African workers struggling to fit in in France, was awarded on Wednesday the Prix Louis-Delluc, Gaul's most prestigious film honor.

Cannes fest prexy Gilles Jacob -- presiding over a jury whose members serve for life -- presented the 65th award to Kechiche at historic Champs-Elysees eatery Fouquet's. Pic was released in Gaul the same day.

Tying for the Delluc prize for first feature were "Water Lilies," Celine Sciamma's tale of three adolescent girls wrestling with their hormones, and Mia Hansen-Love's father-daughter story "All Is Forgiven."

Eight features were in the running for the main award.
