Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco have sued Bob Yari Prods., claiming they are owed $4.7 million in contingent compensation for their role as producers of the Oscar-winning "Crash."

According to the complaint, filed last week in Los Angeles Superior Court, Haggis, who also served as writer and director on the film, and Moresco, who also received a screenplay credit, entered into a series of agreements under which they were entitled to receive a three-tiered contingent compensation depending on the picture's success.

Complaint alleges that Yari agreed to finance the film with a budget not to exceed $7.5 million. An August audit, according to the suit, revealed bogus charges that were improperly included by Yari against adjusted gross profits. Suit seeks money damages, imposition of a constructive trust and an accounting and disgorgement.

"Crash" spawned a flurry of litigation in conjunction with the 2005 Academy Awards, in which the film triumphed as best picture. "Crash" producer Cathy Schulman sued Yari, claiming she was fired in retaliation for the Producers Guild of America's refusal to award him a producer credit. Yari, in turn, sued the PGA, claiming the process of awarding producer credits was arbitrary, secretive and unfair.
