Taylor sews up ESA post

Exec to head communications, research

Rich Taylor, a former exec at the Motion Picture Assn. of America, is set to become senior VP for communications and research at the Entertainment Software Assn., the videogame industry's lobbying outfit.

Serving under former MPAA topper Jack Valenti, who stepped down in 2004 and died earlier this year, Taylor was the org's top flack until shortly after current chief exec Dan Glickman was hired. Taylor then moved into MPAA's external affairs and education section, concentrating on getting the antipiracy message out to students and learning institutions. He ankled that position a month ago.

"Rich has spent many years in the entertainment industry and has a deep knowledge about the opportunities and challenges facing our businesses," Glickman said in a statement. "The ESA and MPAA share many of the same goals, such as promoting intellectual property rights and reducing piracy across the world.Taylor starts his gig this month, according to the ESA.
