America Ferrera on Amber Tamblyn

Actors on Actors

"'Stephanie Daley' is the story of a teenager who gets pregnant and makes a lot of choices based on her own judgment. Of course, one of the most shocking and chilling scenes is when Amber Tamblyn gives birth in a restroom stall. You never know if this teenager killed the baby or not. The beauty of Amber's performance is that I didn't get a definite answer. I saw a lot of colors of Amber that I'd never seen before in her work. She plays someone young but strong; you never saw a moment of weakness. An easier way would be to play vulnerable and scared and iffy and hurt. But when Amber admits that maybe she did something wrong, she seems stronger for her admission. You knew this actress had a strong point of view and she knew what she wanted to say with that role."
