Edward Sabin takes new TLC post

COO will oversee business strategy

TLC has created a new chief operating officer position, with Fox TV Studios alum Edward Sabin taking the post.

In the new gig, Sabin will oversee business strategy, which includes ad sales, finance, business and legal affairs, affiliate sales and international. Digital and business development also falls under his domain.

Sabin moves over from international production/distribution shingle Alchemy Television Group, where he served as group president and chief operating officer.

At TLC, Sabin will be reunited with TLC prexy/General Manager Angela Shapiro-Mathes, who formerly headed up Fox TV Studios. Shapiro-Mathes announced Sabin's appointment Monday.

"Finding just the right business partner was critical for me," Shapiro-Mathes said. "He's a smart operational executive and a brilliant strategist who will help me to grow the success of TLC."

Sabin spent more than seven years at Fox TV Studios, handling business operations for the studio's domestic production groups and handling its new media production business.

Exec's credits also include a stint at the entertainment law firm Greenberg Glusker.
