Report sez DreamWorks' co-founder David Geffen has been in talks with NBC U since late summer and is seeking a hefty slate financing pact of at least the $400 million a year company now receives from Paramount, which bought out DreamWorks in late 2005 for $1.6 billion. It's been no secret during the past year that DreamWorks chiefs Geffen, Steven Spielberg and company CEO Stacey Snider have been unhappy with the state of their Par partnership, particularly after they delivered a slew of B.O. hits to the parent concern this year, including "Transformers."
The Times' report said the prospect of a deal with NBC U has been hampered by the price tag Geffen is seeking and by Peacock's desire for DreamWorks to seek at least some outside financing for its pic slate.
