'Dirty Sexy Money' gets full season

Order marks first back-nine pick-up since strike

Despite the writers strike, ABC has optimistically given a back-nine order to wealthy-family drama 'Dirty Sexy Money.'

ABC has given a full season order to “Dirty Sexy Money,” one of the year’s new critical darlings.

Order marks the first back-nine pickup since writers went on strike two weeks ago.

Such a move might seem odd since there’s no guarantee “Dirty Sexy Money” will even complete its initial 13-seg order, given the work stoppage. But Alphabet execs are high on the show, which has been collecting buzz and turning into a sleeper surprise for the net.

Plus, an ABC spokesman said the net is still hoping the strike can be resolved in time to jumpstart production before the end of the season.

“Dirty Sexy Money” stars Peter Krause as an attorney who winds up inheriting his father’s lifelong gig as private counsel to the eccentric, mind-numbingly wealthy Darling clan. Donald Sutherland plays the Darling patriarch, with Jill Clayburgh as his wife. William Baldwin, Natalie Zea, Glenn Fitzgerald, Samaire Armstrong, and Seth Gabel play the Darling offspring, while Zoe McLellan portrays Krause’s wife.

Craig Wright created “Dirty Sexy Money” and exec produces with Greg Berlanti, Josh Reims, Matthew Gross and Bryan Singer. ABC Studios is behind the show.

Season to date, “Dirty Sexy Money” has averaged a 3.6 rating/10 share among adults 18-49 after seven airings and 9.6 million viewers overall.

Frosh skein is the fourth to score a full season pickup from ABC; the Alphabet has also given back-nines to “Pushing Daisies,” “Samantha Who” and “Private Practice.”
