The thriller concerns a couple who find their honeymoon to be a hellish adventure. Pic has just begun shooting in Albuquerque, N.M.
The cast, which will be familiar to genre fans, includes Ron Perlman ("Hellboy") and Lauren German ("Hostel: Part II").
The film is being produced by Hyde Park Entertainment and Stage 6 Films, the newly created production arm of Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group. Hyde Park's Patrick Aiello and Ashok Amritraj are producing.
"The Dark Country" will be released by one of Sony's theatrical labels, and it is one of the first films being shot simultaneously in 3-D to take advantage of the slowly swelling ranks of theaters that are being retrofitted for 3-D to accommodate films like the James Cameron-directed "Avatar," but can play in 2-D theaters as well.
Jane is a genre enthusiast who has started a graphic novel/horror comics company called Raw Entertainment. He next stars in the Frank Darabont-directed Stephen King adaptation "The Mist" for Dimension Films, which opens Nov. 21.
Hyde Park is in production on "Other End of the Line" for MGM and is prepping "Street Fighter" for Fox for an early 2008 start.
