Perez Hilton

Infamous gossip blogger makes his way to TV

The 29-year-old gossip blogger (aka Mario Lavandeira) -- the self-proclaimed Queen of All Media -- crossed over into traditional media in a big way this year, selling six installments of his reality series "What Perez Sez" to VH1.

The first program aired in September, and Lavandeira -- the son of Cuban parents -- is currently planning an end-of-year "Barbara-Walters-spun-on-her-head" interview show for the music cable network.

Among other gigs, Lavandeira also co-hosted the red carpet for "MTV Australia Video Music Awards" and appeared on MTV's "Celebrity Rap Superstar."

He's also set to lend his voice to an upcoming episode of Fox's "Family Guy."

As for the wildly popular blog that started it all, PerezHilton.com, Lavandeira's webhosting company reports that weekly page views grew from 8 million last January to 35 million as of late October.

The biting bloggings of his alter ego have even helped Lavandeira develop a budding friendship with a real-life Hilton: Paris.

Point of view

"I would love to be like Martha Stewart, a wonderful American success story," Lavandeira says. "I really value my brand and cherish it, and think it has a lot of potential to be the next Omnimedia."
