Paul Feig to direct NBC pilot

Hyphenate co-created 'Freaks and Geeks'

NBC has signed frequent Judd Apatow collaborator Paul Feig ("Freaks and Geeks") to direct the pilot for the Molly Shannon comedy "Kath & Kim."

Feig, a scribe-thesp-helmer, recently had a role in Apatow's "Knocked Up." Duo co-created "Freaks and Geeks" and Feig directed Apatow's short-lived Fox skein "Undeclared."

"Kath & Kim" is based on an Australian format about a woman and her daughter. Universal Media Studios and Reveille are producing the project, which -- barring any strike-related difficulties -- is expected to lense later this fall.

Feig has directed a number of TV shows, including "Arrested Development," "30 Rock" and "Mad Men."
