The U.S. writers' strike is already having an impact on U.K. TV schedules.

British network Channel 4's digital web More4 has started to show repeats of "The Daily Show" hosted by Jon Stewart.

More4 topper Peter Dale said: "The 'Daily Show' helps define More4, offering a wonderful contrast to the More4 News. The 'news hour' (featuring "The Daily Show" and "More4 News") is a really rare thing on TV, and I can't wait for 'The Daily Show' to come back."

If there is a long-running strike, Channel 4's slate of U.S. dramas and comedies such as "Desperate Housewives" and "Ugly Betty" would be hit after Christmas.

Terrestrial rival Five, which relies heavily on the "CSI" franchise, satcaster web Sky One and to a lesser extent BBC2, the U.K. home of hit sci-fi skein "Heroes," would also have their skeds turned upside down by a prolonged strike.
