Philanthropy Project begin AFI campaign

$10 million grant from Foundation put to charitable use

The Philanthropy Project has launched with a $10 million grant from the John Templeton Foundation. Project will team up with the AFI to create a multimedia campaign urging citizens to become more philanthropic.

The Philanthropy Project aims to increase the amount of private wealth that citizens give to charity by publicizing the stories of small charitable foundations in the US.

Project will also sponsor a "Filmanthropy Scholarship Competition" among first-year fellow s at the AFI Conservatory. Competitors will create short films about leaders of small foundations and then get the chance to volunteer for them if they win the scholarship.
