Savannah Festival picks 'Violets'

Ed Burns film takes kudos for narrative feature

Ed Burns' "Purple Violets" took home kudos for narrative feature at the 10th Savannah Film Festival's closing awards ceremony Saturday.

A dozen awards were given out at the ceremony, with Will Frears winning narrative short for his "All Saint's Day."

The judging panel was comprised of thesps Lois Chiles and Timothy Dalton and multi-hyphenates Amy Ephron and Nelson George.

Non-competive awards were given to Charlie Rose, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award for entertainment journalism, and "Kite Runner" screenwriter David Benioff, who took home the Achievement in Cinema Award.
