In addition, Dave Gare has been tapped veep of post-production and Ian Watermeier has been named director of production and finance.
Courtney, who will be based in the company’s West Hollywood offices and report to prexy of production Robert Katz, most recently worked as a freelance associate producer and production manager on films including the upcoming comedy “Starship Dave.” She also serves on the board of directors of the Producers Guild of America and is the chair of the PGA’s FilmUSA Committee.
Gare joins the Film Department after four years as an on-set executive. Before that, he spent a decade as prexy of Cybermedia, a creative agency and production company in New York.
Watermeier joins the Film Department from the set of Sean Penn’s “Into the Wild,” where he served as a production exec. The Film Department was founded by former Warner Independent Pictures and Miramax Films president Mark Gill and former Miramax Films exec veep and Yari Film Group chief operating officer Neil Sacker. Company plans to fully finance and produce six films per year budgeted between $10 million and $45 million.
