Korean Cineclick fixes AFM slate

Sales unit picks up 'Crossing'

SEOUL -- Sales company Cineclick Asia has picked up new Korean title "Crossing," about a North Korean refugee crossing into China, for its AFM slate.

Pic marks a more serious turn for helmer Kim Tae-kyun, best known for action-fantasy "Volcano High" and teen meller "Romance of Their Own." Budgeted at a weighty $7 million, film centers around an ex-soccer player who illegally crosses into China and then desperately tries to arrange for his son and pregnant wife to join him.

Cineclick will screen a five-minute promo reel at AFM, and expects the film to be complete by next spring.

Seoul-based company will also present new promo reels for Manchuria-set western "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" by Kim Jee-woon, Korean horror-fantasy "Hansel & Gretel," Argentine drama "The Lion's Den" and the Afghanistan-set "Opium War" from Siddiq Barmak.Cineclick's Aussie comedy "Lucky Miles" will also screen at the AFI fest.
