The move comes within a week of the reverse migration of Dan Patrick, who left ESPN to become a columnist for SI. Website SI.com will also carry Patrick's daily syndicated radio show.
Reilly, who has worked for SI since 1985, won't join ESPN until June. In addition to his SI column, Reilly will be an essayist for the "SportsCenter" series and do color work on golf tournaments like the Masters, the British Open and the Ryder Cup.
