Chinese directors huddle in Japan

Filmmakers gather in Yokohama for festival

Some of China's top helmers including Feng Xiaogang and Zhang Yang gathered in Yokohama for the second Chinese film festival, which will take the theme "Beijing" ahead of next year's Olympics.

The week-long festival, which started Monday, is aimed at improving understanding among young Japanese about China and Chinese culture and will show six movies during the event.

The festival will also show promotion footage for the Beijing Olympics and will stage an Olympics exhibition.

The Chinese Film Festival in Yokohama was first held in 2006, becoming the first formal Chinese film festival in Japan.
