ContentFilm takes 'Trumbo'

Documentary to screen at AFM

LONDON — ContentFilm International has taken on international rights to Peter Askin’s docu “Trumbo.”

The pic about Dalton Trumbo, the Oscar winning screenwriter who was swept up in the 1950s anti-Communist witchhunt, is based on the original 2003 play by Dalton’s son, Christopher.

Play was largely based on a collection of Trumbo’s letters, which are performed on the docu by Nathan Lane, Brian Dennehy, Joan Allen, Paul Giamatti, David Strathairn, Donald Sutherland, Josh Lucas, Liam Neeson and Michael Douglas.

The feature is produced by Will Battersby, Tory Tunnell, Alan Klingenstein and David Viola. The deal with ContentFilm was brokered on behalf of the producers by William Morris Independent.

Docu, which has market screenings at AFM on Nov. 3 and 5, premiered in September at the Toronto Film Festival.
