Grant, awarded to Monique Caulfield for producing the feature "Basmati Blues," is funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, and encourages the production of science and technology-themed scripts and films.
Caulfield will receive a $25,000 development grant, and admission to the aforementioned 2007 Producers Lab.
Eleven other applicants are also participating in the Lab, a seven-week program that supports and improves their individual production projects. Participants include grant-winner Caulfield, Mike Miller, Suzi Yoonessi, Jennifer Westin, Susan Glatzer, Gretchen Somerfeld, David Baxter, Jason Weiss, Morgan Stiff, Gert Basson, Julien Favre and Minh Nguyen-Vo.
The 2007 Lab will be taught by producer Ram Bergman, and feature several more guest speakers, including writer-director Stephanie Allain, and producer Scott Prendergast.
