Low-rated show, which featured clips from the Internet, has been permanently 404'ed by the net, which will air repeats of frosh laffer "Aliens in America" in the 7:30 p.m. slot starting Sunday.
The nixing of "Online Nation" marks the season’s first no-caveat-attached cancellation. Fox earlier yanked reality skein "Nashville" off the air, but with the promise that it would eventually return. (Actually, Fox at first said "Nashville" would return in mid-October — but so far, there’s no indication the Music City-themed skein will make a comeback.)
The CW’s overall performance this fall has been dragged down by Sunday nights, where the combo of “CW Now,” “Online Nation” and “Life Is Wild” drew just a 0.2 rating this past weekend. That put the broadcast net 27th overall in the time period — far below VH1’s repeat showing of one of the CW’s own series, “America’s Next Top Model” (Daily Variety, Oct. 17).
The final airing of “Online Nation” also averaged just 580,000 viewers. Show was hosted by Internet personalities Stevie Ryan, Rhett McLaughlin and Lincoln Neal, as well as actress Joy Leslie. David Hurwitz and Paul Cockerill produced for Room 403 Prods.
