'Closing the Ring' gets The Works

Company picks up rights to Attenborough film

LONDON -- The Works has picked up U.K. and Irish rights to Richard Attenborough's "Closing the Ring," which will be released on Dec. 28.

Time-trip romancer, which stars Shirley MacLaine, Christopher Plummer, Mischa Barton, Pete Postlethwaite and Neve Campbell, preemed at the Toronto Film Festival and screens at the London Film Festival this month.

The Works has tapped Mervyn Andrews head of distribution in Ireland. He previously worked for Walt Disney, PolyGram and Lionsgate U.K.
