A studio employee for seven years, Weinstock had been promoted to executive veep of marketing for the genre division in January 2006. Since then, Screen Gems has bowed seven films at No. 1 including ``Resident Evil: Extinction,'' ``Underworld: Evolution,'' ``When a Stranger Calls'' and ``Stomp the Yard.'' Weinstock also developed campaigns for TriStar titles including ``Silent Hill'' and the Sandra Bullock starrer ``Premonition.''
Jeff Blake, chairman of worldwide marketing and distribution for the Columbia TriStar Motion Picture Group and vice chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, said about Weinstock, ``Filmmakers and talent trust and rely on his instinct and ability to deliver innovative materials to support our motion pictures.''
Weinstock, who reports to Blake, is overseeing campaigns for upcoming Screen Gems' films ``This Christmas,'' ``First Sunday,'' ``Untraceable'' and ``Prom Night.''
Screen Gems prexy Clint Culpepper said, ``Marc has done a phenomenal job creating daring and compelling campaigns that deliver the truest vision of our movies.''
Weinstock also was senior veep of marketing for TriStar as well as for Screen Gems.
Before SPE, Weinstock spent three years as director of marketing for Fox Searchlight. He co-wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Burt Reynolds starrer "Deal."
