Dutton is no stranger to HBO, having worked on a wide variety of its projects -- earning an Emmy nom for his role on "Oz" and scoring a directing Emmy for "The Corner."
Pact was announced Tuesday by HBO Programming Group and West Coast Operations prexy Michael Lombardo.
"HBO has enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership with 'Roc' Dutton," Lombardo said.
Dutton said he was eager to "renew my long-standing relationship with HBO."
"I look forward to developing other projects that will have the same stamp of excellence as our previous collaborations," he said.
Dutton came to TV fame as the star and exec producer of Fox's early 1990s laffer "Roc," which was produced by HBO Independent Prods. Besides "Oz," he also appeared in HBO's "The Sopranos." And the pay cabler provided Dutton with his directorial debut in 1997 original HBO movie "First Time Felon."
Dutton has scored Emmy wins for guest appearances on "Without a Trace" and "The Practice." He's also appeared in many films and in Broadway productions.The multihyphenate recently directed his first feature, 2004's "Against the Ropes," and also helmed segs of Showtime's "Sleeper Cell."
