Based on the novel by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, story revolves around two bridge-and-tunnel teenagers, nursing broken hearts, who fall in love during one sleepless night in New York while searching for their favorite band's unannounced show. Peter Sollett ("Raising Victor Vargas") is directing from a script by Lorene Scafaria.
Mandate has scheduled production to begin late this year.
Depth of Field's Chris and Paul Weitz, Kerry Kohansky and Andrew Miano are producing. Mandate prexy Nathan Kahane and Adam Brightman will exec produce.
"When Kerry first brought us Lorene's script, I was drawn to the unique combination of humor and emotion in her story that fuels this duo's journey," Kahane said.
Cera, who starred in summer hit "Superbad," next star in Jason Reitman's awards-season hopeful "Juno," which Mandate produced.
Dennings, whose credits include "The 40-Year-Old Virgin," is shooting "I Know What Boys Like" for Columbia Pictures. She also stars in "Charlie Bartlett," set for release on Feb. 1.
