CBS Paramount extends Sinise's lease

Studio inks 'CSI' star until 2011

CBS Paramount has struck a lucrative new deal with "CSI: New York" star Gary Sinise that could keep the thesp on the crime beat until 2011.

Studio previously had an option that locked Sinise to "CSI: NY" though spring 2010. In exchange for adding another year to that option, CBS Par has bumped up Sinise's salary to around $5 million per year. That put his per-episode fee in the low-$200,000s range.

Deal with Sinise comes even though CBS technically hasn't renewed "CSI: NY" beyond the current season. Given the show's strong ratings -- and the fact that CBS Par produces it -- there's little doubt the Gotham offshoot of "CSI" will be around until at least the 2008-09 season.

"CSI: NY" began its fourth season on the Eye network last month.

On the feature front, Sinise had a voice role last year in "Open Season." Other recent credits include "The Forgotten," "The Big Bounce" and "The Human Stain."
