Helm and producing partner Jim Garavente are behind "Rockville 2020," which they'll produce via their Gang of Two banner in association with ABC Studios. Project stems from a blind script commitment the Alphabet made to Helm earlier this year.
"Rockville" will tell the story of a midsize town in Oregon "that is quickly becoming irrelevant," Helm said.
"Their mayor decides to do something drastic to change the town, and that's trying to get them a bid for the 2020 Olympics."
In addition to exploring the town's characters, skein will also examine a larger theological mystery.
Helm's developed a couple of pilot scripts over the past years but has largely focused on film.
His directorial debut, the Dustin Hoffman-Natalie Portman starrer "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium," opens next month. He's in talks to direct his script "The Disassociate" for Warner Independent.
Helm also wrote a play, "Good Canary," that's currently being staged at Theatre Comedia in Paris.
