The show, which had been airing on CNBC, shifts to the sister cabler starting the week of Oct. 5, and will air at noon on Saturday, and then repeat at 6 pm EDT. The show will also air twice on Sunday.
Russert, who is also chief political analyst for "Nightly News" and "Today," has hosted "The Tim Russert Show" for a decade on CNBC.
The show is intended to be broader than the beltway-focussed "Meet the Press," and has hosted celebrities such as Jay Leno, Michael Jordan and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The show will retain a strong political bent, however. MSNBC cast the move as one that would boost the net's political coverage.
"As we head into the 2008 election season, the addition of "Tim Russert" to our weekend lineup solidifies MSNBC as the place for politics," said Phil Griffin, SVP of NBC News.
CNBC, which loses the show, has been converting its evening and weekend schedules to a tighter focus on business coverage.
