Elwell will oversee business affairs and operations for Sony's syndie, ad sales and digital distribution divisions. He reports to SPT prexy Steve Mosko.
"Chris will coordinate business affairs efforts between our different distribution businesses and make sure they are in line with each other operationally," Mosko said. "His experience makes him perfectly suited to bring it all together."
Elwell most recently was VP of legal affairs for Sony Pictures Entertainment's corporate and distribution legal group, overseeing legal affairs for product acquisition and distribution for the studio's international and feevee arms. He's been with Sony since 2002.
Prior to Sony, Elwell -- a Rhodes scholar -- worked at IFilm as senior VP of business affairs. He began his legal career as a clerk for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal.
