Franz to star in 'Piano Teacher'

Play opens in fall at Vineyard Theater

Elizabeth Franz will play the lead role in “The Piano Teacher,” the new play by Julia Cho (“Durango”) that opens this fall at Off Broadway’s Vineyard Theater.

Franz, who won a Tony for her performance in the 1999 revival of “Death of a Salesman,” portrays the titular teacher, who searches out her former pupils to learn why they suddenly stopped taking her lessons.

Bethany Butler and John Boyd, both of whom play estranged students, complete the cast.

Directed by Kate Whoriskey, “Piano Teacher” begins previews Oct. 30 for a Nov. 18 opening.
