Trio set to make an 'Impact' on TV

Meteor miniseries to cost $13 million

By ED MEZA

BERLIN -- Tandem Communications is partnering with Jaffe/Braunstein Films and Muse Entertainment on "Impact," a $13 million miniseries about a massive meteor that hits the moon and knocks it on to a collision course with Earth.

The four-hour mini, penned by Michael Vickerman ("Superfire"), chronicles the efforts of a group of American and European scientists working together to save the planet.

No strangers to cataclysm, Jaffe/Braunstein produced NBC's earthquake minis "10.5" and "10.5: Apocalypse" starring Kim Delaney and Beau Bridges, while Muse produced ION Television and RHI Entertainment's "Killer Wave."

Munich-based Tandem is partnering with Starz Media to distribute the Starz Fantasy Adventure Collection, which includes Sci Fi Channel's "Sands of Oblivion" and three titles in development, "The Lost Treasure of the Grand Canyon," "Merlin's Quest" and "Houdini."
