CNBC shuffles programming lineup

Network makes changes before FBN launch

Call it the fear factor.

CNBC is shuffling its programming lineup the week before Fox Business Network is set to go on the air.

The biz net is canceling the low-rated “On the Money” and increasing the exposure of anchor Dylan Ratigan around the critical closing bell of the New York Stock Exchange.

The Ratigan-hosted “Fast Money,” a round table of Wall Streeters, gets the 5 p.m. slot, and “Kudlow & Company” moves to 7 p.m. Ratigan also co-hosts the 3 p.m. hour of “Closing Bell.”

“We’re moving ‘Fast Money’ to an hour after the market closes because it will provide maximum value to our audience closer to the conclusion of trading,” CNBC prexy Mark Hoffman said.

“Kudlow & Company” is more focused on political themes, and the net cast the move to 7 p.m. as a shift to a better hour for a politically focused show.

“On the Money” rated so low that it often failed to register in Nielsen ratings, meaning it drew fewer than 51,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo. Net said the show is “on hiatus.”

Changes are effective Oct. 10; Fox Business Network launches the following Monday in 34 million homes.

Little is known about the upstart net’s show lineup. FBN hired radio talkshow host Dave Ramsey to anchor a primetime show on personal finance.
