Geneon will distrib new UPJ pics on DVD, beginning with "The Bourne Ultimatum" in March. UPJ will continue to handle Universal catalog and TV product, including the hit show "Heroes," while manufacturing and marketing new release and catalog titles.
"This deal will help us secure stronger and wider distribution in a very competitive Japanese marketplace, and will complement our theatrical distribution deal with Toho-Towa," said Eddie Cunningham, prexy of Universal Pictures Intl. Entertainment.
A member of ad shop Dentsu's corporate group, Geneon is a leading distrib of packaged software in Japan, including Hollywood pics.
