EFA picks four debutants

First-timers go for Discovery Award

LONDON -- The European Film Academy has shortlisted four pics helmed by up-and-coming directors for its Discovery Award.

Pics vying for the kudos are Anton Corbijn's "Control," Eran Kolirin's "The Band's Visit," Jan Bonny's "Counterparts" and Ozer Kiziltan's "A Man's Fear of God."

Nominated pics were chosen by Jacob Neiiendam, Marco Lombardi, Dana Linssen, Pierre-Henri Deleau and Stefan Laudyn.

The winner, to be announced at the European Film Awards on Dec. 1 in Berlin, will be selected by the Academy's 1,800 members.
